The foremost collaborative space during the UN General Assembly

The SDG Action Zone is the foremost collaborative space for engaging world leaders and emerging leaders to supercharge and accelerate solutions for the sustainable development goals. Over the course of three days during the UN General Assembly on 22–24 September 2020, the fully virtual SDG Action Zone convened leading thinkers, actors, creators, and activists through frank debate, challenging discussions, inspiring showcases and creative experiences to drive the exponential change on three core areas for accelerating action on the Goals: People, Planet and Partnerships.

Featuring world leaders, household names and emerging voices

Speakers included UN principals Amina J. Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Achim Steiner, UNDP Administrator, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Executive Director, UN Women, Inger Anderson, Executive Director, UNEP; social entrepreneurs and business leaders like Jasmine Crowe, Founder and CEO of The Goodr Co, Sal Kahn, founder of Khan Academy or Brian Wong, Founder of Alibaba Global Initiatives; creatives like YouTuber Louis Cole, actress Cecilia Suarez, filmmaker Damon Gameau, actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, singer Yemi Alade, political leaders such as Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleatf former president of Liberia and the first elected female head of state in Africa; community activists like Fatou Jeng founder of Earth Gambia; athletes including footballer Mohamed Salah, rugby captain Siya Kolisi, and Olympian Pita Taufatofua; SDG advocates including Dia Mirza, actor and producer, Richard Curtis, film maker, and Eddie Ndopu, activist; and many more!

Viewership and social media engagement

The SDG Action Zone was viewed by over 16 thousand people from around the world and reached over 90 million people through 800 thousand people actively engaged on social media, generating over 450 million impressions.
